Question 1

What is a cushion compact?

Accepted Answer

A cushion compact is a portable package that holds a liquid or cream formula in a reservoir designed for controlled pickup with an applicator puff. Many formats use a formula-loaded sponge, while others use mesh, tension, or alternative dispensing systems.

Question 2

What products can be packaged in cushion compacts?

Accepted Answer

Cushion compacts are commonly used for liquid foundation, skin tints, BB and CC creams, sunscreen, and skincare products. Compatibility depends on the formula and the specific compact dispensing system.

Question 3

What is the difference between a cushion compact and a powder compact?

Accepted Answer

A powder compact typically holds pressed or loose powder in a pan. Cushion compacts are designed for liquid or cream formulas and use a reservoir and dispensing surface that transfers product to an applicator puff.

Question 4

Are cushion compacts refillable?

Accepted Answer

Some cushion compacts are designed with removable inner cartridges or pans that can be replaced while the outer compact is reused. Refill construction and compatibility vary by manufacturer.

Question 5

What should I consider when sourcing cushion compact packaging?

Accepted Answer

Consider formula compatibility, capacity, dispensing system, applicator, seal performance, refill design, materials, decoration requirements, and minimum order quantity. The complete package should be tested with the intended formula before production.
